Residual biomass quality index: a tool for conservation agriculture

چکیده
ABSTRACT One of the pillars a no-tillage system is addition adequate amounts residue to keep soil continuously covered. Cover crops are tool for supplying demand permanence residues on surface and releasing nutrients soil. However, there no index that relates these two factors can reconcile maximum crop in with N supply via mineralization such residues. This study aimed assess effect different cover decomposition rate release, using residual biomass quality (RBQI) evaluate systems. The was conducted long-term experiment Latossolo Vermelho (Ferralsol, Oxisol) under agricultural years 2017/18 2018/19. split-plot factorial scheme eight winter three rates randomized blocks replications. systems were black oat (O), common vetch (V), forage radish (R), white lupine, rye, annual ryegrass, + (O+V), (O+V+R). applied corn succession 0, 90, 180 kg ha -1 . rate, remaining dry mass (RDM) surface, release accumulated (NAR) assessed litterbags. Considering NAR RDM evaluated up 105 days, (NRI) (RDMI) determined, obtained product variables. consortia O+V+R O+V resulted closer observed oats rye. similar Fabaceae species, or superior found oat. With characteristics, presented highest values RBQI, ranging from 0.61 0.90, indicating RBQI potential indicator choosing promote greater sustainability system. use fertilizer did not change crops.

Total quality index: a benchmarking tool for total quality management
The total quality index (TQI) proposed in this study is an information technology-supported benchmarking tool that helps managers assess a total quality management program by enabling the cost-effective measurement of key organizational processes. TQI utilizes the analytic hierarchy process and the Delphi technique to measure ideal and actual quality management along eight critical factors synt...

infrastructure development often leads to considerable changes in the land use. these changes are major causes of habitat fragmentation and ecosystem loss. moreover, decrease of the environmental impacts on biodiversity is among the most important objectives of sustainable development. for this purpose, environmental impact assessment (eia) along with the other appropriate tools can be applied ...
متن کاملBeyond conservation agriculture
Global support for Conservation Agriculture (CA) as a pathway to Sustainable Intensification is strong. CA revolves around three principles: no-till (or minimal soil disturbance), soil cover, and crop rotation. The benefits arising from the ease of crop management, energy/cost/time savings, and soil and water conservation led to widespread adoption of CA, particularly on large farms in the Amer...
متن کاملA NEW DAMAGE INDEX FOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE IDENTIFICATION BY MEANS OF WAVELET RESIDUAL FORCE
In this paper a new method is presented for structural damage identification. First, the damaged structure is excited by short duration impact acceleration and then, the recorded structural displacement time history responses under free vibration conditions are analyzed by Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) and Wavelet Residual Force (WRF) is calculated. Finally, an effective d...
